After Texas killing, Trump justifies arming citizens against evil

Former President Donald Trump called Friday for arming citizens to fight the evil in our society, which he said was behind the horrific killing at an elementary school in Texas.

The Republican billionaire was speaking before the first American gun lobby, which by chance of the calendar, was holding its annual convention a few hundred kilometers from the Texas city where the shooting that took the lives of 19 children and two teachers took place.

The existence of evil in our society is not a reason to disarm law-abiding citizens, said the former president. The existence of evil is the reason to arm law-abiding citizens, he assured.

Exploiting the tears of families
Donald Trump accused his successor Joe Biden and the Democratic Party of politically exploiting the tears of bereaved families by trying to pass gun laws.

To the calls to limit the number of firearms, the conservatives oppose the argument to better treat the mental health problems in the United States, a point on which Donald Trump particularly insisted Friday.
The shooter was an out-of-control lunatic, said the former tenant of the White House. He will burn in hell, he promised.

The former real estate tycoon also called for increased security in American schools, suggesting installing sturdy fences and metal detectors in front of schools and arming teachers.
A few minutes earlier, at the same National Rifle Association (NRA) convention, Texas Senator Ted Cruz said that a confiscation or ban on guns in the United States would lead to an increase in crime.

Many more single mothers would be assaulted, raped or murdered on the subway, he said.
