Three children found dead in US home: neighbors describe mother’s strange behavior

It is a macabre discovery made this Sunday, Mother’s Day in the United States. The bodies of three children without life were found in a house of Woodland Hills, a residential district of the suburbs of Los Angeles, in California. According to the testimonies of several neighbors, screams and fights had been heard in this residence on Saturday evening.
Prisila Canales, who lives two houses away from the scene, said she heard the mother yell on Saturday night around 10:30 p.m., My family is abusing me! Canales said she then saw the woman, who had moved into the house two to three months ago, enter the neighbor’s yard, open a Bible and light candles.
John, 34, who lives a block from the scene and declined to give his last name to the Los Angeles Times reporter, said he heard muffled screams from a child Saturday night. I thought I was just dreaming, he recalled with dread.
Police officers, called to the scene on Sunday morning, found two 8-year-old boys and a 12-year-old girl dead inside the house. The mother of the family, meanwhile, was evacuated on a stretcher screaming, Where’s my Bible?
The mother was taken to the hospital for a mental evaluation and will be taken into custody. She was arrested Sunday nightbut has not yet been charged, according to the LAPD. According to the Los Angeles Times, LAPD also confirmed that another child was involved. That child was not injured, police said, because he ran to a neighbor’s house.
According to the paramedics who responded on Sunday, the children had been dead for many hours when the paramedics arrived on the scene.
An investigation is underway to determine the circumstances of the events.
